The Ford Taurus SHO was a popular model in the 1990s, as it provided a great solution for stealth speed. While the last Ford Taurus SHO, aka Super High Output, was offered in 1999, the sedan is back to compliment the all-new 2010 Ford Taurus.

Back in 1999, when the Ford Taurus SHO last offered, the vehicles provided an impressive 235 horsepower from a Yamaha built 3.4-liter V8 engine, which for the time according to a Providence used car dealer provided impressive performance. The latest Taurus SHO will provide an incredible 365 horsepower and 350 lb ft of torque from a twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. While the new EcoBoost engine will find its way into other Ford models, such as the F-150, the engine will provide the most power in the Taurus SHO. Ford Los Angeles believes the engine will

The abundance of power offered in the 2010 Taurus SHO will be honed by a 6-speed SelectShift automatic, the same transmission in other EcoBoost-powered models. The SHO will also have steering wheel mounted paddle shifters standard. There will also be a ‘match-rev’ feature, while will help make downshift smoother. Additionally, the Taurus SHO will also feature a torque-sensing all-wheel-drive system, which Bonneville Ford Mercury says will help to distribute torque to wherever it’s needed to provide the best traction possible.

Power for the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO comes in spades, but it wouldn’t be fun without handling improvements.  That’s why the SHO gets unique power-assisted steering, as well as shock absorbers and stabilizer bars that are tuned for sportier handling. With the additional enhancements, Auffenberg Ford personnel believe that the Taurus SHO promises to handle better and be more responsive than the standard Taurus model. The SHO will also come with 19 inch or 20 inch wheels to help add grip.

If that all sounds great but you’re still wanting more, Keene NH Ford dealers say the Ford Taurus SHO will also have a SHO Performance Package available as an option. This performance adds sport tuned brakes, even quicker steering, a ‘Sport Mode’ for the electronic stability control system, 20 inch tires, and even quicker acceleration thanks to a different drive ratio.

Like the original Taurus SHO, the new model will receive very little performance cues when it comes to the exterior styling. That shouldn’t be too much of a concern as the standard 2010 Taurus is all-new, and provides a fresh new design. A Ford dealer Denver argues that perhaps the biggest indicators of the SHO’s hidden performance prowess will be a subtle spoiler, dual chrome exhaust tips, new tires, and new grille.

Inside, the Taurus SHO will receive equally subtle changes, including leather seats with suede accents, aluminum pedals, SHO branding on the flooring mats, and aluminum accents along the dash, doors, and center console. Like many new Ford models, the Taurus SHO also is available with the Ford Sync infotainment system.

The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO will be available in Ford dealer showrooms this summer, with a price tag of under $38,000.
