Who says fast and sporty can’t be economical?
At last week’s LA Auto Show, Ford showed of it’s 2011 Mustang that boasts and impressive 305-horsepower, 30-miles-per-gallon V6 engine as its entry level offering. The 3.7-liter engine coupled with a new six-speed automatic transmission and redesigned air-intake system is estimating the 30 MPG performance on highways.
It will offer the best fuel economy in its class, bumping the Chevy Camaro and other challengers in the arena. Adding nearly 100 HP over the 2010 V6 Mustang will help it to keep pace or exceed the Camaro, as its performance at the V6 level will now be comparable.
Better fuel economy is not the only “greener” aspect of the 2011 Mustang. The new engine will feature a die-cast aluminum deep-sump oil pan, increasing intervals between oil changes to an estimate 10,000 miles.
If rumors turn out to be true about the return of a 5.0-liter V8 engine that will offer over 400-horsepower, the Mustang may be THE pick for muscle-car enthusiasts as well as eco-friendly sports car lovers in 2011.
There are certainly cars that deliver sportiness and fuel efficiency; that’s why Virginia Used Hyundai Tiburons or Hartford used Honda S200, or similar models are so popular. But this new Mustang promise efficiency with real sports car characteristics, and for a solid price.
