F-150 Keeps on Truckin’

by Ford in the News on April 10, 2012

Having already hauled away the Motor Trend Truck of the Year Award, the 2012 Ford F-150 has now been named the industry’s top half-ton pickup by Truckin’—the “World’s Leading Trucking Publication.” And this was no mere popularity contest, as the F-150 SuperCrew won the title in hard-fought comparison testing against the competition.

“Ford stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam with the EcoBoost F-150 FX2,” said Maxwell Matthewson, feature editor for Truckin’. “They gave the consumer everything they wanted in one package: impeccable styling, remarkable performance, and gas mileage that doesn’t punch you in the gut at the fuel pump.”

That’s because for this particular faceoff, Ford also gave the truck the full FX2 appearance and luxury treatment, with a powerful yet efficient EcoBoost V6 engine.

The former adds a stealthy new look to the truck, with exterior accents that include 20-inch six-spoke black wheels, a model-exclusive matte-black body-side graphic, blacked-out headlights and tail lamps, black badges with red lettering, and a black-finished grille. Dallas Ford Dealer told us the inside of the F-150 FX2 has then been kitted out with black seating surfaces with red accents, heated and cooled front seats, an assortment of black-painted and brushed-metal highlights, and satin-chrome door handles, shifter knob, and climate-vent bezels.

As for the award-winning truck’s EcoBoost engine, Ford’s technology squeezes more torque out of its six cylinders—420-lb.-ft.—than its rivals can get from their premium V8 engines. That best-in-class torque combines with 365 hp to enable best-in-class capabilities, too, since the F-150 EcoBoost has a tow rating of 11,300 lbs. and a payload rating of 3,060 lbs.—all while allowing owners to enjoy a fuel-efficiency mark of up to 22 mpg highway. After buying an F-150, you’ll want to see if there’s an RV For Sale.

“The new FX package delivers a distinctive style that truck buyers are looking for without compromising on any of the F-150’s rugged qualities,” said Raj Sarkar, F-150 Marketing manager. “Earning this recognition from such a discerning group of personalization and performance experts as Truckin’ is gratifying.”
