Focus Electric Gets ‘Plugged In’

by Ford in the News on April 11, 2012

The countdown is on for the premiere of the Ford Focus Electric—in both Ford dealerships and as the star of “Plugged In,” the very first reality competition series from digital giant Yahoo.

The series kicks off in May and will spotlight the adventures of two-person teams as they compete for the chance to take home their very own Focus Electric. Ford Dealer Dallas said that with Yahoo as a partner, there will be plenty of interactive opportunities for those at home to follow along, including an exclusive Flickr group page. And the show itself is being produced by the Emmy-Award-winning Magical Elves production company, known for putting together projects like “Top Chef” and “Project Runway.”

“The winners of Plugged In aren’t vying for just any car, they are competing for the most fuel-efficient five-seat vehicle in America—just one more reason this competition is all that much more exciting,” said Ginger Kasanic, Ford’s experimental marketing manager. “The hope is that viewers not only find the competition element of Plugged In exciting and interesting, but also learn a little bit about the possibilities offered by Focus Electric.”

One thing worth learning immediately about the Blue Oval’s new EV: According to Augusta Ford Focus, the Focus Electric will post an EPA line of 110 MPGe city/99 MPGe highway/105 MPGe combined, with no tail-pipe emissions, thanks to its advanced electrical propulsion system.

The Ford Focus Electric will go on sale in California, New York and New Jersey by July of this year, then begin a phased rollout that will reach a total of 19 U.S. markets before the end of 2012. Visit Car Dealerships In Kansas City or your local Ford dealer for more information.
