Ford has been vigorously promoting its all-new Edge crossover SUV since its introduction. The new Edge has even been featured in advertising and sponsorship of primetime television shows such as Oprah’s Big Give and American Idol. The Edge is also being featured on the company’s new Drive One brand advertising campaign which features average consumers taking an Edge for a drive

The Ford Edge may not be the most exciting midsize SUV on the market. But, the Edge has many unique features that will certainly draw-in buyers. Potential buyers can opt for many unique goodies and gizmos that will keep the tech-savvy buyer happy.

One of the most unique features to the Ford Edge is the available Sync system. Developed by Microsoft, the Sync information and entertainment system has found its way into several Ford and Mercury vehicles and has become a huge selling point among Philadelphia Ford dealers. The system allows drivers to connect it to their cell phones for text messaging and hands-free talking functions.

In addition with the Sync feature, navigation another tech feature on the Ford Edge that makes driving a little easier. The navigation system does a good job of working with the Sync system to provide maximum information data for the driver. The entertainment aspect of the system allows drivers to stream music via Bluetooth or use the auxiliary input to plug in MP3 players. When pairing an MP3 player with the system, a Binghamton Ford dealership says artist and song information will also be played on the navigation screen.

Despite the Ford Edge’s car-based platform, its handling is not the nimblest amongst its tough competition. It’s powered by a 265 horsepower engine that is mated to a six-speed automatic. This pairing yields a respectable 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway with all-wheel drive. Although these numbers aren’t too impressive, the emissions are even more respectable thanks to its ULEV II rating notes one Florida truck dealer.

The Ford Edge doesn’t stand out in any one area, but holds its own in a number of ways. Its technology offerings and adequate efficiency may grab attention while some buyer might find that the Edge perhaps offers a well rounded package.
