Cars require regular maintenance to ensure they run optimally for the long haul. Unfortunately, maintenance can become costly over time, and it’s also inconvenient. But what if you never needed to do an oil change ever again? Or, never had to worry about changing your air filters?
The battery electric powertrain within the upcoming Ford Focus Electric will make routine maintenance a thing of the past. That’s because the Focus Electric doesn’t have a traditional combustion engine. In fact, there are plenty of components that absent in this new EV, including:
- Air filter
- Alternator
- Battery
- Clutch
- Fuel filter
- Fuel injectors/fuel pump
- Motor mounts
- Motor oil
- Muffler
- Oil filter
- O2 sensors
- Power steering fluid
- Radiator
- Radiator hose, lower
- Radiator hose, upper
- Serpentine belt
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Starter
- Thermostat
- Timing belt
- Transmission adjustment (automatics)
- Transmission filter (automatics)
- Transmission fluid or oil
- Water pump
Without these components, which require regular inspection, Ford says that the Focus Electric will allow drivers to spend less time and money on maintenance. And, that sounds like a pretty good deal to Clovis Ford Dealers.
