A new Ford Focus will soon be heading to the U.S. based on the current model sold in Europe, but until then the 2009 Focus models are still sitting on dealer lots and are certainly worth checking out as well. With a solid 35 miles per gallon, unique technology such as Sync infotainment from Microsoft, not to mention a competitive price tag, the 2009 Ford Focus has plenty to offer a compact car buyer.
For both 2008 and 2009, the Ford Focus received important updates, which Minnesota Ford dealers say helped to make it more competitive against slightly fresher models. Ford also decided to leave only a coupe and a sedan, axing wagon and hatchback models. Aside from the changes to the body style options, the Ford Focus received only cosmetic changes.
Under the hood, the Ford Focus has remained unchanged, and features a Duratec inline four cylinder engine from the previous year. This engine produces 140 horsepower and 132 lb ft of toque and is mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Although it may not sound like an abundance of power, one Ford dealer that specializes in Ford commercial vehicles in Florida suggests the Duratec engine has been steadily improved over the years and is a peppy and fuel efficient engine compared to others in its class.
Inside, the 2009 Ford Focus displays quality fit and finish, which will likely surprise many potential Focus buyers as it already has at Newark Ford dealers. Additionally, materials are among the best in its class. Seats are supportive and the front buckets can be heated. Access to the rear seats is not good, but the once passengers get in, there is ample interior space.
For those looking for a good value on an all-around solid performer in this class, the 2009 Ford Focus is certainly worth your time. While there are plenty of other options that may give you more performance, or more interior value, or more style, the 2009 Focus can likely be had with a highly competitive price tag that will make it well worth it.
