This week marked the unveiling of the all-new 2011 Ford Explorer. For this new model, Ford engineers started with a car-based platform, rather than a truck platform as with previous generations. Despite this dramatic change, the Blue Oval still has its sights set on appealing to traditional SUV buyers.
Despite being more of a crossover vehicle than traditional SUV, Ford is confident the 2011 Explorer will still provide the capability that buyers demand thanks to a slew of new technologies, including a terrain management system, blind spot monitoring, and a range of other systems.
