Ford’s new 2011 Mustang will boast more power and improved efficiency. But Ford’s SVT team was also able to make some tweaks to improve upon the latest pony car.
The 2011 Shelby GT500 offers quicker lap times than the 2010 model, based on recent testing at the Virginia International Raceway. Aside from its impressive speed, the new Shelby GT 500 is also easy on the eyes based on this recently released exterior driving video. It also sounds incredible thanks to its supercharged engine.
Powering the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 coupe and convertible is a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 making 550-hp and 510 lb-ft. The new powertrain weighs 102 pounds lighter than the engine of the 2010 model, resulting in a better power-to-weight ratio, improved fuel-economy, and far better performance overall.
